About the project

In September of 2001, the Haas School of Business at U.C. Berkeley initiated a joint Executive MBA program with Columbia University’s Business School. In order to accommodate the bi-coastal program and its anticipated large enrollment, we were brought in to build a new 2,500 sq. ft., media rich, distance-learning classroom. The project included the reconfiguration and renovation of two existing lecture halls into a larger lecture hall.

The room accommodates more than 75 students in tiered seating and includes support spaces and equipment to facilitate live two-way instruction and communication with a remote site, or sites. Though designed for the Haas/Columbia joint MBA program, it is also anticipated that the room will facilitate conferences and teaching opportunities with the school’s affiliates in the Pacific Rim and elsewhere.
