About the project

New, ground up construction of a classroom building for the Center for Early Intervention on Deafness. This project consisted of a one- and two-story, 6,000 sq. ft. building, including the creation of classrooms, administrative and resource spaces. Each classroom is equipped with special features which benefit the students. All classrooms are acoustically modified to provide an optimal listening environment for the children. There is a completely quiet, radiant floor heating system. The walls and floors are made from acoustic tile and other soft materials which absorb ambient noise, rather than transmit it. Each classroom has a row of clerestory windows that fills the rooms with natural daylight.

New project site improvements included an outdoor courtyard with a play area, as well as a on-site parking and landscaping between the building and surrounding sidewalks.
