This project involved the conversion of a 15,200 sq. ft. existing mortuary and new wood frame addition to create a K-8 school and playground. The designers kept the existing mortuary facade as well as interesting architectural details in the lobby area, including terra cotta floor tiles, arched tiled entries, and a decorative tile fountain. Sixty percent of the building was demolished and re-built to the standards of a K-8 school. Special attention was given to the lighting, sound, accessibility, and overall architectural details of the building.
