About the project

This project involved the conversion of two areas within the YMCA. Three racquetball courts were demolished to make way for 3,500 sq. ft. of new cardio and strength training studios. This included major modifications to the structure, ceilings, lighting, acoustics and mechanical systems. Additionally, three large bays of store front windows were installed to provide city views from the new studio space. 800 sq. ft. of existing space was converted into a multipurpose studio for specialty classes.

This involved the addition of a demising wall to separate the space, saw cutting CMU for new windows and doorway openings, acoustical treatments, specialty wood flooring, and modifications to mechanical, electrical and fire protection systems. Two studios were also renovated, a new Fitlinxx workout area was constructed, and the lobby and offices were renovated. All of the work was completed while the YMCA remained operational.

BBI has renovated over 20 YMCA facilities.
