About the project

The Pleasanton Veterans Memorial Building, designed by renowned architect, Henry Meyers, was completed in 1933. Our renovation brought the building back to its original glory, while preserving its historical and architectural integrity. Along with bringing the building up to ADA standards (by adding wheelchair ramps to all entrances and installing a lift for the main hall stage), BBI also installed a new heating and air-conditioning system, new electrical and plumbing systems, and performed kitchen and restroom upgrades. The building was also seismically strengthened and equipped with a new fire-protection and security system.

Historical integrity was retained both inside and out. The original clay tiled roof was repaired or replaced by using the existing tiles, the lighting fixtures were cleaned (or replicated, where necessary), several damaged tiles in the foyer were reproduced, and the original floor tiles in the bathroom were reproduced exactly. The hand-painted wood-beamed ceilings were also carefully cleaned and restored.
