The Renovated Pleasanton Veterans Memorial Building is Rededicated after 74 Years

After undergoing 14 months of extensive renovation, the Pleasanton Veterans Memorial Building has opened its doors for a grand reopening. The building was designed by renowned architect, Henry Meyers, and it was completed in 1933. The renovation work has brought the building back to its original glory, while preserving its historical and architectural integrity.

Along with bringing the building up to ADA standards by adding wheelchair ramps to the all entrances and installing a lift for the main hall stage, BBI Construction also installed a new heating and air conditioning system, new electrical and plumbing systems, and performed kitchen and restroom upgrades. The building was also seismically strengthened and equipped with a new fire protection and security system.

The building’s historical integrity was retained both inside and out. The original clay tiled roof was repaired or replaced by using the existing tiles, the lighting fixtures were cleaned or replicated, several damaged tiles in the foyer were reproduced, and the original floor tiles in the bathroom were reproduced to exact duplication. The hand-painted wood-beamed ceilings were also carefully cleaned.
