Mills College Education Department & Laboratory School
Oakland, CA
Client: Mills College
Architect: Don Dommer Associates
New construction of a 24,000 sq. ft. two-story education building and a laboratory school, arranged around a central courtyard. The laboratory school has six classrooms for infants through fifth grade childcare, and a library. The education building contains faculty and administrative office, and graduate student classrooms. The architecture matches the existing campus buildings. Site work involved a playground and extensive landscaping with many trees to blend into the wooded setting. Finishes included two fireplaces, quarry tile floors, clay tile roof and mahogany trim. |
