Goldman School of Public Policy Renovation
Berkeley, CA
Client: University of California, Berkeley
Architect: Architectural Resources Group
The Goldman School of Public Policy building was built in 1893 and is registered as a City of Berkeley Historic Landmark. It was designed by Ernest Coxhead and originally served as the Beta Theta Pi fraternity house.
The 10,189 gross sq. ft. project involved renovation, a seismic and ADA upgrade, and the new construction of a new three-story addition. The scope of work included new foundation, electrical, heating, mechanical, plumbing, fire sprinkler, electrical systems, and elevator. The project also including adding moment frames/shear walls, and restoring both interior and exterior historic finishes of the building. The historic nature of the building was maintained while blending in the new construction. |
