Bayer Cell Biology / Cell Culture Laboratory
Berkeley, CA
Client: Bayer Corporation
Architect: GEZ Architects & Engineers
This project was constructed adjacent to the microbiology lab, and pressure was controlled higher than pressure in the microbiology lab. The building was upgraded with a new HVAC system (class 100,000), and utilities. Utilities included instrument air, liquid nitrogen, gaseous nitrogen, and carbon dioxide. Terminal HEPAs were installed to meet cleanliness and air change requirements. The laboratory was designed and constructed for one-hour fire rating. Liquid nitrogen cryogenic piping was installed to supply four cryo-freezers. Oxygen sensors were installed to monitor the oxygen level in the lab. Room pressures are monitored and recorded via PC system that interlocks with the building alarm. |
